Capital Campaign Proposal

The H.Y.P.E. Recreation Center will be a recreational getaway for the youth and families in Metro Detroit.  There are currently only a few facilities with similar concepts.

H.Y.P.E. Athletics Community, a non-profit organization, is building a 104,000 sq. ft. recreation center at 23302 W. Warren Ave., Dearborn Heights, MI 48127. H.Y.P.E. will share space with Zaman International, a non-profit humanitarian service focused organization. The scheduled grand opening is March 2012.

The construction of the center will occur in two phases. Phase I (Appendix B and C), construction of the primary center, will offer opportunities for youth and their families to participate in sports, social youth development and family literacy activities.

This state-of-the-art center will house five basketball/volleyball courts, separate men’s and women’s weight training rooms, an indoor track, a computer lab, a library/resource room, classrooms, a café, and a safe haven hub and center for education and physical fitness.  Phase II (Appendix B and C future addition) of construction will include a swimming pool and a multipurpose turf that will be utilized for indoor soccer, lacrosse, football, batting cages, gymnastics, dance, mixed martial arts, wrestling and boxing. The second floor will provide additional classrooms and conference rooms.

Funding for this project has been made available through Wayne County’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and the Federal Governments Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Additional funding has been secured through the State of Michigan’s Brownfield Development Program.  The generosity and consideration of our current partners has enabled us to secure $7.5M which is 65%  of the current budget. Phase I currently needs $600,000 to complete, and Phase II needs $3.5 million.  Endowments will be necessary for the interior structure and furnishings of the building.

As a potential corporate donor, there will be naming opportunities throughout the center.  The H.Y.P.E. Recreation Center will allow members to purchase individual, youth and family memberships. Sports programs and social services will be offered throughout the year allowing youth and adults an opportunity to learn, grow and play in one place. These will improve academic performance, family and social functioning and law abiding behavior.  H.Y.P.E. thanks you for your time.
